Jillian is still young and has already choreographed over 50 full-length productions in her career. Not one to stand still, she hopes to find continued growth as an artist in the years to come.
Jillian finds deep joy from teaching dance. She continues to make time in her schedule to instruct a range of students from the youngest of dancers, to college students, to actors who move well. Jillian currently teaches at Art of Dance and previously taught at Lycoming College, and most recently as an adjunct professor at Centenary University.
Jillian began training at a young age and has not stopped yet! Ms. Petrie has most recently trained under an elite group of artists. Training highlights include the Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance in London, famed choreographer Mark Morris the artistic director of Mark Morris Dance Group, Martha Graham Dance Company soloist David Zurak, Iceland Dance Company director Gianluca Vincentini, and Larry Keigwin at the Juilliard School.
In addition to her extensive dance training, Jillian is formally trained in voice. Her acute understanding of music and vocal technique has deeply benefited her as a choreographer.
J.Petrie's work in professional theatre has earned a NJ Tony Award (The Star-Ledger), a NJ Obie Award (The Star-Ledger), and over five Broadway World Nominations for "Best Choreography."
Jillian is still young and has already choreographed/ directed over 50 full-length productions. She is currently the company choreographer for the NJ regional theatre, The Growing Stage, and continues to work as a freelance choreographer in other regional and educational theaters.
Jillian's concert dance choreography has been produced throughout NYC, in multiple US states, and internationally. Some of her favorite venues so far include the Ailey Citigroup Theater, Queen's Museum, the Highlands, and Joyce SoHo.
Petrie has earned top marks and awards for her musical theatre choreography in the competition dance world. 2018 season availability is limited, inquire today.
